caroline-148x2281If you recently enjoyed “Coraline”, the newly released 2009 animated stop-motion 3D fantasy movie, you may like to explore the story further in a different media, the graphic novel. You will discover why Neil Gaiman’s story works so well as a graphic novel, as he often uses a child’s perspective in his fantasy world. Some of his early works were written as comic books. Neil has a gift for describing something that most of us as adults have forgotten: how strange the world we live in looks to children.

The Seychelle Islands, the Pearl of the West Indies

When the weather is dreary and there’s a lot of work waiting on your desk, you can’t help but dream of escaping to a tropical island where the weather is balmy and your biggest concern is whether or not you should surf or scuba dive. A vacation hot spot with which I am particularly obsessed are the Seychelle Islands. This paradise is famous for its untouched splendor, seclusion, and jaw-dropping, drool-enducing beaches.

Like what you see? This particular beach is called Anse Source d’Argent, and is considered by many to be one of the best beaches in the world. If its unusual granite formations and gorgeous turquoise waters look familiar, it may be that you’ve seen this beach in a magazine, as it is frequently featured in magazines and photoshoots. English explorer Charles Gordon called the Seychelles “the original Garden of Eden” way back in 1881. I’d say he’s probably right.

The hotels don’t disappoint, either. I recommend you stay at the Banyan Tree Seychelles, a uber luxurious resort found on the main island, Mahé. With beachside villas and a world-class spa, this hotel is designed to cater to the most discerning clients. With an elegant, Europe-meets-tropical-paradise style of architecture, the hotel is at once rather modern and classical. The menu is eclectic, with various restaurants emphasizing different cuisines such as Thai, French, Mauritian, African and Mediterranean.

The infinity pool is definitely worth checking out.

Flights are available via Emirates and Qatar Airlines, among others.

Many look forward to the coming Easter celebration, a seasonal ritual that signals the spring’s arrival. The signs of blooming miniature daffodils and tulips, the fresh green shoots of grass, the warm sunshine of a crisp morning, are all calling us to spend our time outdoors. While you don’t want to miss the fun of looking for the eggs in every corner of the garden, you also want to look best in your Easter dress. No fashion conscious woman wants to miss the chance, or more accurately, wants miss the excuse to break out her spring dress at an Easter party. After a long winter of snowstorms and cold frost, wearing a spring dress has the librating and refreshing power like a vase of fresh cut spring flowers!

However, it is still chilly to wear one’s spring dress alone outdoors, but no one wants cover it under a car coat or trench coat. Only a feminine, delicate and lightweight sweater will do. The Oleana knitwear line from Norway really impresses us. Their alpaca collection is full of whimsical colours and patterns and blends well with any spring dress in a garden party setting.

The alpaca is a 100% natural fleece-like fibre, thought to be similar to sheep wool, but warmer and hypoallergenic since it contain no lanolin.
